सावत्थिनिदानं।
Sāvatthinidānaṁ.
At Sāvatthī.
तत्र खो भगवा एतदवोच।
Tatra kho bhagavā etadavoca.
There the Buddha said:
“पञ्चिमानि, भिक्खवे, इन्द्रियानि। कतमानि पञ्च? सद्धिन्द्रियं, वीरियिन्द्रियं, सतिन्द्रियं, समाधिन्द्रियं, पञ्ञिन्द्रियं—इमानि खो, भिक्खवे, पञ्चिन्द्रियानी”ति।
“Pañcimāni, bhikkhave, indriyāni. Katamāni pañca? Saddhindriyaṁ, vīriyindriyaṁ, satindriyaṁ, samādhindriyaṁ, paññindriyaṁ—imāni kho, bhikkhave, pañcindriyānī”ti.
“Bhikkhus, there are these five faculties. What five? The faculties of faith, energy, mindfulness, samādhi, and wisdom. These are the five faculties.”
