Sañcetanāsutta
Intention
सावत्थियं विहरति।
Sāvatthiyaṁ viharati.
At Sāvatthī.
“तं किं मञ्ञसि, राहुल, रूपसञ्चेतना निच्चा वा अनिच्चा वा”ति?
“Taṁ kiṁ maññasi, rāhula, rūpasañcetanā niccā vā aniccā vā”ti?
“What do you think, Rāhula? Is intention regarding sights permanent or impermanent?”
“अनिच्चा, भन्ते” …
“Aniccā, bhante” …
“Impermanent, sir.” …
“सद्दसञ्चेतना …पे… गन्धसञ्चेतना … रससञ्चेतना … फोट्ठब्बसञ्चेतना … धम्मसञ्चेतना निच्चा वा अनिच्चा वा”ति?
“saddasañcetanā …pe… gandhasañcetanā … rasasañcetanā … phoṭṭhabbasañcetanā … dhammasañcetanā niccā vā aniccā vā”ti?

“एवं पस्सं, राहुल, सुतवा अरियसावको रूपसञ्चेतनायपि निब्बिन्दति …पे… सद्दसञ्चेतनायपि निब्बिन्दति … गन्धसञ्चेतनायपि निब्बिन्दति … रससञ्चेतनायपि निब्बिन्दति … फोट्ठब्बसञ्चेतनायपि निब्बिन्दति … धम्मसञ्चेतनायपि निब्बिन्दति …पे… पजानाती”ति।
“evaṁ passaṁ, rāhula, sutavā ariyasāvako rūpasañcetanāyapi nibbindati …pe… saddasañcetanāyapi nibbindati … gandhasañcetanāyapi nibbindati … rasasañcetanāyapi nibbindati … phoṭṭhabbasañcetanāyapi nibbindati … dhammasañcetanāyapi nibbindati …pe… pajānātī”ti.
“Seeing this, a learned noble disciple grows disillusioned with intention regarding sights, sounds, smells, tastes, touches, and thoughts. …”
