सरीरट्ठधम्मसुत्त

Sarīraṭṭhadhammasutta

Existing Because of the Body

“दसयिमे, भिक्खवे, धम्मा सरीरट्ठा। कतमे दस? सीतं, उण्हं, जिघच्छा, पिपासा, उच्चारो, पस्सावो, कायसंवरो, वचीसंवरो, आजीवसंवरो, पोनोभविको भवसङ्खारो—इमे खो, भिक्खवे, दस धम्मा सरीरट्ठा”ति।

“Dasayime, bhikkhave, dhammā sarīraṭṭhā. Katame dasa? Sītaṁ, uṇhaṁ, jighacchā, pipāsā, uccāro, passāvo, kāyasaṁvaro, vacīsaṁvaro, ājīvasaṁvaro, ponobhaviko1 bhavasaṅkhāro—ime kho, bhikkhave, dasa dhammā sarīraṭṭhā”ti.

“Bhikkhus, these ten things exist because of the body. What ten? Cold, heat, hunger, thirst, feces, urine, restraint of body, speech, and livelihood, and the will to live that leads to future lives. These ten things exist because of the body.”
