“ទុស្សីលស្ស, ភិក្ខវេ, សីលវិបន្នស្ស ហតូបនិសោ ហោតិ អវិប្បដិសារោ; អវិប្បដិសារេ អសតិ អវិប្បដិសារវិបន្នស្ស ហតូបនិសំ ហោតិ បាមោជ្ឹ; បាមោជ្ជេ អសតិ បាមោជ្ជវិបន្នស្ស ហតូបនិសា ហោតិ បីតិ; បីតិយា អសតិ បីតិវិបន្នស្ស ហតូបនិសា ហោតិ បស្សទ្ធិ; បស្សទ្ធិយា អសតិ បស្សទ្ធិវិបន្នស្ស ហតូបនិសំ ហោតិ សុខំ; សុខេ អសតិ សុខវិបន្នស្ស ហតូបនិសោ ហោតិ សម្មាសមាធិ; សម្មាសមាធិម្ហិ អសតិ សម្មាសមាធិវិបន្នស្ស ហតូបនិសំ ហោតិ យថាភូតញាណទស្សនំ; យថាភូតញាណទស្សនេ អសតិ យថាភូតញាណទស្សនវិបន្នស្ស ហតូបនិសោ ហោតិ និព្ពិទាវិរាគោ; និព្ពិទាវិរាគេ អសតិ និព្ពិទាវិរាគវិបន្នស្ស ហតូបនិសំ ហោតិ វិមុត្តិញាណទស្សនំ។

“Bhikkhus, an unethical person, who lacks ethics, has destroyed a vital condition for having no regrets. When there are regrets, one who has regrets has destroyed a vital condition for joy. When there is no delight, one who lacks delight has destroyed a vital condition for (mental) joy. When there is no (mental) joy, one who lacks (mental) joy has destroyed a vital condition for tranquility. When there is no tranquility, one who lacks tranquility has destroyed a vital condition for (bodily) pleasure. When there is no (bodily) pleasure, one who lacks (bodily) pleasure has destroyed a vital condition for right samādhi. When there is no right samādhi, one who lacks right samādhi has destroyed a vital condition for true knowledge and vision. When there is no true knowledge and vision, one who lacks true knowledge and vision has destroyed a vital condition for disillusionment and dispassion. When there is no disillusionment and dispassion, one who lacks disillusionment and dispassion has destroyed a vital condition for knowledge and vision of freedom.

សេយ្យថាបិ, ភិក្ខវេ, រុក្ខោ សាខាបលាសវិបន្នោ។ តស្ស បបដិកាបិ ន បារិបូរិំ គច្ឆតិ, តចោបិ … ផេគ្គុបិ … សារោបិ ន បារិបូរិំ គច្ឆតិ។

Suppose there was a tree that lacked branches and foliage. Its shoots, bark, softwood, and heartwood would not grow to fullness.

ឯវមេវំ ខោ, ភិក្ខវេ, ទុស្សីលស្ស សីលវិបន្នស្ស ហតូបនិសោ ហោតិ អវិប្បដិសារោ; អវិប្បដិសារេ អសតិ អវិប្បដិសារវិបន្នស្ស ហតូបនិសំ ហោតិ …បេ… វិមុត្តិញាណទស្សនំ។

សីលវតោ, ភិក្ខវេ, សីលសម្បន្នស្ស ឧបនិសសម្បន្នោ ហោតិ អវិប្បដិសារោ; អវិប្បដិសារេ សតិ អវិប្បដិសារសម្បន្នស្ស ឧបនិសសម្បន្នំ ហោតិ បាមោជ្ឹ; បាមោជ្ជេ សតិ បាមោជ្ជសម្បន្នស្ស ឧបនិសសម្បន្នា ហោតិ បីតិ; បីតិយា សតិ បីតិសម្បន្នស្ស ឧបនិសសម្បន្នា ហោតិ បស្សទ្ធិ; បស្សទ្ធិយា សតិ បស្សទ្ធិសម្បន្នស្ស ឧបនិសសម្បន្នំ ហោតិ សុខំ; សុខេ សតិ សុខសម្បន្នស្ស ឧបនិសសម្បន្នោ ហោតិ សម្មាសមាធិ; សម្មាសមាធិម្ហិ សតិ សម្មាសមាធិសម្បន្នស្ស ឧបនិសសម្បន្នំ ហោតិ យថាភូតញាណទស្សនំ; យថាភូតញាណទស្សនេ សតិ យថាភូតញាណទស្សនសម្បន្នស្ស ឧបនិសសម្បន្នោ ហោតិ និព្ពិទាវិរាគោ; និព្ពិទាវិរាគេ សតិ និព្ពិទាវិរាគសម្បន្នស្ស ឧបនិសសម្បន្នំ ហោតិ វិមុត្តិញាណទស្សនំ។

An ethical person, who has fulfilled ethics, has fulfilled a vital condition for not having regrets. When there are no regrets, one who has no regrets has fulfilled a vital condition for joy. When there is delight, one who has fulfilled delight has fulfilled a vital condition for (mental) joy. When there is (mental) joy, one who has fulfilled (mental) joy has fulfilled a vital condition for tranquility. When there is tranquility, one who has fulfilled tranquility has fulfilled a vital condition for (bodily) pleasure. When there is (bodily) pleasure, one who has fulfilled (bodily) pleasure has fulfilled a vital condition for right samādhi. When there is right samādhi, one who has fulfilled right samādhi has fulfilled a vital condition for true knowledge and vision. When there is true knowledge and vision, one who has fulfilled true knowledge and vision has fulfilled a vital condition for disillusionment and dispassion. When there is disillusionment and dispassion, one who has fulfilled disillusionment and dispassion has fulfilled a vital condition for knowledge and vision of freedom.
