Dhammassavanasutta

Listening to the Teaching

“पञ्चिमे, भिक्खवे, आनिसंसा धम्मस्सवने। कतमे पञ्च? अस्सुतं सुणाति, सुतं परियोदापेति, कङ्खं वितरति, दिट्ठिं उजुं करोति, चित्तमस्स पसीदति। इमे खो, भिक्खवे, पञ्च आनिसंसा धम्मस्सवने”ति।

“Pañcime, bhikkhave, ānisaṁsā dhammassavane. Katame pañca? Assutaṁ suṇāti, sutaṁ pariyodāpeti, kaṅkhaṁ vitarati, diṭṭhiṁ ujuṁ karoti, cittamassa pasīdati. Ime kho, bhikkhave, pañca ānisaṁsā dhammassavane”ti.

“Bhikkhus, there are these five benefits of listening to the teaching. What five? You learn new things, clarify what you’ve learned, get over uncertainty, correct your views, and inspire confidence in your mind. These are the five benefits of listening to the teaching.”
