“තයෝමේ, භික්ඛවේ, ආසවා. කතමේ තයෝ? කාමාසවෝ, භවාසවෝ, අවිජ්ජාසවෝ—ඉමේ ඛෝ, භික්ඛවේ, තයෝ ආසවා.
“Bhikkhus, there are these three defilements. What three? The defilements of sensuality, desire to be reborn, and ignorance. These are the three defilements.
ඉමේසං ඛෝ, භික්ඛවේ, තිණ්ණන්නං ආසවානං අභිඤ්ඤාය පරිඤ්ඤාය පරික්ඛයාය පහානාය …පේ… අයං අරියෝ අට්ඨඞ්ගිකෝ මග්ගෝ භාවේතබ්බෝ”ති.
The noble eightfold path should be developed for the direct knowledge, complete understanding, finishing, and giving up of these three defilements.”
