Lacking Samādhi
सावत्थियं विहरति।
Sāvatthiyaṁ viharati.
At Sāvatthī.
“धातुसोव, भिक्खवे, सत्ता संसन्दन्ति समेन्ति। अस्सद्धा अस्सद्धेहि सद्धिं संसन्दन्ति समेन्ति; अहिरिका अहिरिकेहि सद्धिं संसन्दन्ति समेन्ति; अनोत्तप्पिनो अनोत्तप्पीहि सद्धिं संसन्दन्ति समेन्ति; असमाहिता असमाहितेहि सद्धिं संसन्दन्ति समेन्ति; दुप्पञ्ञा दुप्पञ्ञेहि सद्धिं संसन्दन्ति समेन्ति।
“Dhātusova, bhikkhave, sattā saṁsandanti samenti. Assaddhā assaddhehi saddhiṁ saṁsandanti samenti; ahirikā ahirikehi saddhiṁ saṁsandanti samenti; anottappino anottappīhi saddhiṁ saṁsandanti samenti; asamāhitā asamāhitehi saddhiṁ saṁsandanti samenti; duppaññā duppaññehi saddhiṁ saṁsandanti samenti.
“Bhikkhus, sentient beings come together and converge because of an element: the faithless with the faithless … shameless … imprudent … lacking samādhi … witless …
सद्धा सद्धेहि सद्धिं संसन्दन्ति समेन्ति; हिरिमना हिरिमनेहि सद्धिं संसन्दन्ति समेन्ति; ओत्तप्पिनो ओत्तप्पीहि सद्धिं संसन्दन्ति समेन्ति; समाहिता समाहितेहि सद्धिं संसन्दन्ति समेन्ति; पञ्ञवन्तो पञ्ञवन्तेहि सद्धिं संसन्दन्ति समेन्ती”ति।
Saddhā saddhehi saddhiṁ saṁsandanti samenti; hirimanā hirimanehi saddhiṁ saṁsandanti samenti; ottappino ottappīhi saddhiṁ saṁsandanti samenti; samāhitā samāhitehi saddhiṁ saṁsandanti samenti; paññavanto paññavantehi saddhiṁ saṁsandanti samentī”ti.
The faithful with the faithful … conscientious … prudent … possessing samādhi … and the wise with the wise.”
