Zaman International School

Zaman International School (ZIS) opened in 1997 and offers an international education to children from K1 to grade 12. The aim of the school is to give both expatriate children and local Cambodian children an international education using the latest resources and current trends. It offers an international curriculum which has been developed from experience of both the British and American systems, and national curriculum of Cambodia.

The school is a not-for-profit organization. Children from all ethnic backgrounds, color, race, religion and gender are accepted. Autonomous learning in the classroom is encouraged. A thematic approach is used to introduce new concepts. The school offers child-centered learning through carefully monitored activities and games. Admission is based upon an evaluation of records from student's previous school, and a placement test. At Zaman International School, all lessons are taught in English and Khmer (local language). Course books and resource materials are imported mainly from the UK. The school is housed in a newly built and designed building in Tonle Bassac area of Phnom Penh. Facilities include library, computer room, multimedia room, chemistry and biology laboratory, physics laboratory, music room, art room, a large cafeteria, boarding facilities for 50 students, covered and open playgrounds for kindergarten, primary and high school including football field, basketball court, volleyball court and garden. The school calendar runs from September to June with two mid-semester breaks and a semester vacation.

There is limited scholarship aid for Cambodian students. The school's motto is "You're going to reach the top with us!".
