Zagora (Greek :Ζαγορά) is the biggest village of Mt. Pelion was at its commercial and cultural peak in the 8th and 7th centuries B.C.E, It is the birth place of Yannis Kordatos, a distinguished Greek historian. There are texts dating back to the Byzantine era that mention Pelion by the name Zagora. The library of Zagora with thousands of rare books is of great interest. The school of Rigas Feraios or Hellenic museum as it was known, the oldest school on Pelion, Kallinikos Lapatis (Patriarch of Constantinople) and the bard of the Greeks Rigas Fereos were students of the school among others. The mayor of Zagora generally is responsible for most villages on Mt. Pelion. Currently the position is held by a member of the Chacos family. It is located E of Volos and NW of Tsangarada and Mouresi and is connected by GR-34 linking Volos and Tsangarada about 2 km south. The roads to the north are gravel and are not connected to Keramidi to the north. Zagora has a school, a lyceum, a gymnasium, a church, banks, a post office, and a square (plateia).
