Yang Zhi (footballer)
Yang Zhi (Chinese: 杨智) is a Chinese football player who currently plays for Beijing Guoan as a goalkeeper. He has also represented the China national football team on several occasions.
Club career
Yang Zhi originally started his professional career at the second tier club Guangdong Xiongying after graduating from their youth team. He quickly established himself within the squad in his first professional season with Guangdong Xiongying by playing in 26 league games. The following season he would play in a further 22 league games for Guangdong (now renamed as Shenzhen Kejian) and help take them to 10th in the league. His performances caught the eye of Beijing Guoan and with the chance to play in the China Super League Yang Zhi transferred to them at the beginning of the 2005 league season where he once again quickly established himself within the team by playing in 21 league games in his debut season.
International career
After his consistent performances for Beijing Guoan he was he was called into the Chinese national football team in 2006. He did not make his competitive debut until the following season against Myanmar on the 28th of October 2007 for the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification game, which China won 4-0.
