Razbliuto

Razbliuto is the full length debut album of Electronica band Lark which was released in August 2006. After the underground success of their debut EP Mouth Of Me, the band started pre-production on the album in December 2005 and in May 2006 they entered Sound and Motion Studios with their newly joined drummer Sean Ou Tim who played live with the band on various occasions.

Sound and style

The album is largely based on electronica, but the majority of the album was made using pure live instrumentation, unlike many electronica artists their sounds are made with the fundamental instruments of rock such as guitars, drums, and bass guitar, but Ressels, Ratcliffe and Ou Tim experimented with instruments such as electronic drums, double bass, duduk, flute, harpsichord and piano. Although they mainly use live instrumentation the band still stays true to the fundamentals of electronica which is the use of synthesizers, sequencers and drum machines which still dominate the album.

Unlike many electronica bands, samples are normally created for the specific drum sounds. This was not the case with Razbliuto. A lot of time and effort went into Ou Tim's drum kit to get the sound just right. Most people are under the impression that triggers was used, but what you hear on the album is what Ou Tim played live in the studio and captured by microphones. Most techniques used to record the drums was very unconventional to say the least. The live recorded drums are often accompanied with sequenced electronic percussion and drums.

Inge's voice is used very differently on the album, unlike other electronica artists her voice is not effected on the majority of the album but she over-dubbed her voice which is heard on the title track which features her voice alone, over-dubbed to give a choir-like feeling to the song, many of her influences come from the opera world, using techniques such as falsetto and being able to hold and shift notes while making an imitation of an instrument which can be on 'spider's eye'.

Session musicians were used to bring more acoustic elements to the album. Some of the instruments used includes clarinet, chello, violin, mandola, accordion, and bagpipes.
