Natrix maura
Natrix maura is a viperine water snake of the genus Natrix. The viperine snake is found in rivers and lakes in south western Europe and it also lives in north western Africa. This non-venomous, fish eating snake was given its name because it looks and behaves like an Adder which is a common viper and the only thing that makes it different is that it strikes like an Adder but does not bite and if it did it would not inject poison. Also the Viperine snake goes in water, while an Adder does not.Although when the Viperine snake is on land it lookes like an adder well when it is in the water it is a whole different story and do you want to know why, because it lookes like a grass snake and like when it is on land it also behaves just like a grass snakeso after all that we have learnt that a Viperine snake is part Adder part Grass snake. by Matthew Ewan Higginson.
