The 15-county Kansas City Metropolitan Statistical Area, anchored by Kansas City, Missouri, is the 27th largest in the United States with an estimated population of 1,967,405 in the year 2006. The Combined Statistical Area also includes the Micropolitan Statistical Areas of Atchison, Kansas, and Warrensburg, Missouri, with estimated populations of 16,745 and 50,646, respectively. The Combined Statistical Area of Kansas City had a population of 2,034,796 in the year 2006.
In 2007, Worldwide ERC and Primary Relocation recognized Kansas City 3rd overall as one of the "Best Cities for Relocating Families" in the United States.
