Garden centipede
Snake centipedes or garden centipedes are the pale red or brownish Geophilus and Haplophilus, which have very narrow and elongated bodies up to 7 cm long, 30 legs when fully grown, born with 15. They are found in soil and leaf litter, often exposed when turning-over garden soil. Garden centipedes have venom claws behind their heads to attack prey which includes cockroaches and spiders. They are harmless to humans, but can give a rather painful bite if provoked.
