Felis

Felis is a genus of cats in the family Felidae.

The genus is composed of these species: Jungle Cat, Felis chaus
Martelli's Cat, Felis lunensis
Pallas' Cat, Felis manul
Sand Cat, Felis margarita
Black-footed Cat, Felis nigripes
Wildcat, Felis silvestris
Domestic Cat, Felis silvestris catus, also known as Felis catus
Chinese Mountain Cat Felis (silvestris) bieti

However, the understanding of Felidae phylogenetic relationships is changing rapidly as the genome of the domestic cat is sequenced. These are a few of the species that were, until recently, considered to be a part of this genus: Caracal, Caracal caracal
Ocelot, Leopardus pardalis
Margay, Leopardus wiedii
Cougar, Puma concolor
