Fat Hen

Fat hen or fat-hen is a common name for various plants with succulent or juicy leaves, often species that are used as a vegetable:

Aristolochia rotunda (Smearwort)
Atriplex prostrata (Spear-leaved Orache)
Chenopodium album (White Goosefoot)
Sedum spp. (from German Fetthenne, see also Hen and chicks)

In addition, the rather plump version of the Federal Eagle that hangs in the German Bundestag is sometimes called "fat hen" (German: Fette Henne). A very similar version is found on the German 1 and 2 euro coins.
