Electric furnace
An electric furnace may be any of the following type of heat producing equipment using electric power: A central heating plant for a home or building An electric arc furnace used for steelmaking and smelting of certain ores An industrial heat treating furnace An electrically-heated kiln An induction furnace used for preparation of special alloys A modern muffle furnace
A furnace is usually distinct from an oven which reaches lower temperatures, although there is considerable overlap. Usage of either term is based more on custom than on strict classification.
